AC&C Weekly Pet Post: Meet Mama, Carla and Mortimer
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- CBSNewYork.com and 1010 WINS are teaming up with Animal Care & Control of New York City to let you know about some of the adoptable animals looking for loving homes in the city's shelters, and where AC&C's mobile adoption unit is headed with even more great pets.
This week, we're featuring Mama the dog, Carla the cat and Mortimer the bunny.
Mama (Photo above/ID #A1027207): What a cutie! As an AC&C volunteer notes, Mama has an adorable "freckled face." This sociable sweetheart is about three years old, and according to her previous owner, she's friendly with children and strangers, and has lived with both cats and other dogs. Meet Mama at AC&C's Manhattan Care Center, at 326 E. 110th Street.
Mortimer (A1024007): This handsome fellow is about 13 months old, and an AC&C volunteer notes he has "a curious and spunky personality. You could say he fits the stereotype of a fiery redhead!" Meet Mortimer and other rabbits up for adoption at AC&C's Manhattan Care Center, at 326 E. 110th Street.
Carla (A1025878): This gorgeous girl, about two years old, used to live with other cats, whom she got along well with. An AC&C volunteer notes that "Carla is a relaxed, friendly cat" who "loves to cuddle and enjoys being petted. She has a calm demeanor and she looks very lovingly at those interacting with her." Meet this sweetie at AC&C's Staten Island Care Center, at 3139 Veterans Road West.
Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the only open-admissions animal shelter in New York City and takes in approximately 30,000 animals every year. AC&C's three Care Centers in Manhattan (326 East 110th Street), Brooklyn (2336 Linden Boulevard), and Staten Island (3139 Veterans Road West) are open for adoptions 12 p.m. - 7 p.m., seven days a week.
If you're interested in one of the animals featured here, email AC&C's Adoption team at adoption@nycacc.org with the animal's name and "A#", or head directly to the Care Center where the animal is located. Please note, animals featured here may already be placed by the time you arrive, but there are hundreds of great cats, dogs, and rabbits looking for loving homes every day! You can view available animals online, and at the Care Centers, AC&C Adoption Counselors will help you find the best match.
You can also meet your new best friend at AC&C's Mobile Adoption Center, which travels throughout the city. (Note: dates and locations are subject to change. Information will be updated as quickly as possible. Also check www.NYCACC.org)
