3 Arrested In L.I. Cab Driver's Shooting Death
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- It was a brutal crime two years ago just two days before Thanksgiving. Cab driver John Attrino was shot and left for dead and now three suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with his murder.
Under arrest are 23-year-old Michael Taggart, of Melville, 18-year-old Jimmy Ruiz, of Bellport, and 20-year-old Corey Holmes, of Mastic. Authorities say the three suspects were trying to rob Attrrino, 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera reported.

Attrino, 53, of Shirley, was shot just before 3 a.m. on November 25, 2008 at the Long Island Rail Road station in Shirley.
Christopher Attrino, the victim's cousin, said the family had given up waiting for a break in the case.
"I didn't think they would catch them. I'd lost hope," he told Rivera. "I'm glad they caught them."
According to relatives, Attrino, a cab driver for 20 years, was working for Hampton Coach at the time and was close to retirement.
Attrino's aunt, Millie Attrino, said she hoped the accused killers are convicted and serve long prison sentences.
"It's not fair what they did to him", she said, "Not fair."
