"Veronica Mars" trailer: Kristen Bell back in action

Seven years after the TV series ended its run, the "Veronica Mars" film is almost upon us.

The first trailer for the big-screen adaptation made its debut on E! News Thursday night, giving fans of the TV series, affectionately referred to as "Marshmallows," the chance to learn some new info about the plot.

"Frozen" star Kristen Bell reprises Mars, now a "big-shot New York lawyer" who starts to creep back into her old investigating ways when her ex Logan (Jason Dohring) gets accused of murder. Bell also revisits her native Neptune, Calif., coming back to town for her10-year high school reunion.

Most of the show's cast members have returned for the film, while there's some new notable additions like Jamie Lee Curtis and Justin Long.

Making a film based on the teen private eye series, which aired on the UPN and eventually the CW from 2004-2007, seemed like a long-shot at first, until a Kickstarter campaign launched by the show's creator Rob Thomas raised over $5.7 million with the supporter of 91,585 backers. The filmmakers' initial fundraising goal had been initially set at $2 million.

Following the trailer's release,  Bell took to Twitter show her gratitude:

"Veronica Mars" comes to AMC theaters on March 14 before eventually going off to a video on demand release.

Tell us: Are you excited to see the "Veronica Mars" film?
