Winter lesson
The rough landing of a Delta jetliner at LaGuardia Airport in a driving snowstorm just minutes after the runway had been plowed has raised questions about when airports should close runways due to snow or ice. The damaged plane was towed away late Thursday into early Friday to enable airport officials to reopen the runway, reports CBS News correspondent Jericka Duncan.
Bombing trial
The jury was shown new images Thursday of the Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people and injured hundreds. While survivors recounted horror and chaos during the trial's second day, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev showed no reaction to the vivid and powerful stories delivered just feet in front of him. CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano reports many jurors and spectators in the courtroom were brought to tears.
Iraqi offensive
Iraqi forces pressed their offensive against ISIS today, expecting to reach the outskirts of the militant-held city of Tikrit within hours, a day after the extremists reportedly "bulldozed" a famed archaeological site in the area. The battle to wrest Tikrit -- Saddam Hussein's hometown -- from ISIS is a major test for the Iraqi forces and allied, Iran-backed Shiite militias fighting on their side. CBS News correspondent Holly Williams says the Iraqi forces are also fighting alongside troops from Iran -- and an Iranian general is reportedly commanding the battle.
Freed
Only on "CBS This Morning," the Oregon woman wrongfully held in East Timor is sharing her story of freedom. CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy reports Stacey Addison was unable to leave East Timor for six months after being accused of a crime she did not commit. She returned to American soil and opened up about her drama.
Missing
Sunday marks one year since Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 vanished, and there's still no trace of the jet. About 40 percent of the so-called "priority" search zone in the Indian Ocean has been covered. CBS News News correspondent Seth Doane spoke to the wife of one of the victims, Patrick Gomes.
Senate wants say?
Watching the reaction to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speech to Congress might have left the impression that America's lawmakers shared Netanyahu's skepticism about the nuclear talks with Iran. Yet the Senate now appears deadlocked on how to respond.
Inequality cost
One of the hottest topics around lately concerns the widespread effects of income inequality. For example, evidence suggests that when inequality is very large, it can lower economic growth. But there's quite a bit of uncertainty about how this occurs. What are the pathways that connect large disparities in income and wealth to economic growth?
Remembering Selma
As the 50th anniversary of the civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama nears, those who were there are sharing their memories of the historic day. CBS News correspondent Jim Axelrod talks to one of the youngest protesters and one who captured one of the iconic images from that day.
