Potential progress

Authorities have found two sets of footprints at the Mobil gas station in Dannemora, the small upstate New York town where the maximum security prison is located that two killers escaped from almost a week ago, Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie confirmed to CBS News this morning. After law enforcement agents saw the footprints, they brought in bloodhounds who detected the escapees' scents, Wylie said. Police were out in force through the night as the search for David Sweat, 34, and Richard Matt, 48, approached the one week mark, reports CBS News correspondent Anna Werner.

Born white?

Controversy erupted yesterday around a prominent civil rights advocate in Spokane, Washington. Rachel Dolezal, president of the local NAACP, is being accused of falsely portraying herself as a black woman. Her biological parents claim she is misrepresenting major portions of her life. CBS News correspondent Adriana Diaz reports Dolezal is denying the accusations.

Stealth campaign

On Monday, Jeb Bush is expected to finally and formally enter the crowded GOP race for the White House. The former Florida governor spent months avoiding calling himself a candidate, but slipped last month and accidentally said, "I'm running for president." CBS News correspondent Nancy Cordes reports on why Bush and so many other 2016 hopefuls need to parse their words before saying "yes." Turns out, testing the waters can be very lucrative.

Straw poll?

Some of the Republican Party's most prominent 2016 presidential candidates have said they won't participate in the Iowa Straw Poll in August -- so what's the point in holding it? That's the question the Iowa GOP will debate today, when the party's central committee holds a conference call to determine whether to scrap an event that's cherished by conservative activists in Iowa but increasingly criticized by Republicans inside and outside the state.

Ready to spend?

After peaking in late January, Gallup's U.S. Economic Confidence Index has been sliding lower, likely because of the bounce back in gasoline prices. But other numbers suggest American consumers are feeling pretty good, leading them to open their wallets.

Costly prescription

When a CBS News employee was recently prescribed a nutritional supplement to boost his energy, he was astonished when he saw the claim the pharmacy submitted -- and his insurance approved -- for a one month supply: $44,707. For the cost of a BMW convertible, he got 180 capsules of powdered resveratrol, an antioxidant found in red grapes, available at any local nutrition store. CBS News correspondent Jim Axelrod investigated, since over-the-counter resveratrol costs just $157.38.

China pole dancing

Beijing is famous for its Forbidden City, infamous for its smog, but perhaps not known at all for pole dancing. That may change. CBS News correspondent Seth Doane reports on the dancing's growing popularity.
