(Episode 454; 14 minutes 51) Almost half of all electronic transactions in Australia are handled by the Commonwealth Bank. That means they have a wealth of sample data for analysis of trends in the economy which is why, last week, the bank launched their inaugural Viewpoint economy vitality report.

In this edition of BTalk I ask Michael Blythe, the Commonwealth Bank's Chief Economist, what the analysis shows us about attitudes as we move out of the economic downturn. Have we learnt anything, for example, or are many people still spending beyond their means?

This is the first in a new quarterly report, so look out for future editions. In the meantime, as you listen to this interview, flick through the inaugural report on the Commonwealth Bank website.
