The shooting death of Alex Pretti has scrambled the debate on gun rights, with the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus and the NRA immediately denouncing initial administration statements blaming Pretti for carrying a gun, which he had a legal permit to carry. 408,000 Minnesotans have permits to carry and there are some reports that applications for permits have increased since Pretti's death.
