Wood Named Chancellor Of U Of Minn., Crookston
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The University of Minnesota has named Fred Wood chancellor of its Crookston campus.
Wood comes to Minnesota from the University of California, Davis, where he has held leadership roles for 26 years.
As chancellor, Wood will be chief academic and executive officer for the Crookston campus in northwestern Minnesota. UMC is one of five U of M campuses and has an enrollment of 1,600 students.
Wood received a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1980 and a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry in 1984, both from UC Davis. He joined the school in 1986 and has been vice chancellor of student affairs since 2007.
Wood starts his new position July 2, pending approval from Minnesota's Board of Regents. He succeeds Charles Casey, who is retiring after seven years as UMC chancellor.
