Protesters Gather In Wis. Over Officer-Involved Shootings

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Scores of demonstrators gathered outside the Dane County Sheriff's Department's Madison headquarters to protest recent police shootings of black men in Louisiana and Minnesota.

The protesters lined the sidewalks around the building, holding signs that read "does your badge still stand for justice?" and "black lives matter more than white feelings." Monday morning commuters honked in support. Police estimated the crowd at about 100 people.

The Madison Police Department's headquarters stands across the street from the sheriff's office. A police spokesman said about 30 protesters entered that building but left peacefully. No one was arrested.

Police killed Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge and Philando Castile in Twin Cities suburb Falcon Heights last week. On Thursday a black Army veteran killed five white officers in Dallas.
