Weather Blog: Jumping Into Winter

By Ron Trenda, WCCO-TV

As I headed into WCCO this Saturday morning, there were already 2-3 inches of wet snow on my driveway. It continued to fall into the afternoon and some parts of the metro could see totals in the 9-12 inch range before it tapers off later tonight.

We average 10 inches of snow during the entire month of November in the Twin Cities, so this storm is memorable. In case you're wondering, the highest total for the entire month of November in the Twin Cities is 46.9 inches, in 1991.

We'll have to be careful on the roads during this storm. Numerous spin-outs and accidents have been reported already.

Also, shoveling can be difficult, especially for those not used to strenuous exercise. Take extra breaks. This wet type of snow often clogs snow-blowers, so it's a good idea to use a stick to unclog the machine, avoiding hand and arm injuries.

Hope you have a safe weekend. Snow lovers are grinning at the piles of white.
