Body in burnt car identified as missing man from Rochester
UPDATE (Jan. 9, 2025) — On Dec. 31, Olmstead County officials responded to the 8000 block of Country Club Road West in Byron on a report of a burnt car.
When they arrived, officials found a car with significant fire damage that appeared to have been in the area for quite some time. The car was registered to Ong, and there was a dead person in the driver's seat, officials say.
The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office identified Ong as the person in the car.
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Police are searching for a 76-year-old man who went missing last week in Rochester.
Uong Ong was last seen at about 3 p.m. on Dec. 3 in his blue 2004 Toyota Camry near Gem Lane Northwest and 50th Avenue Northwest.
Ong is described as an Asian man who stands 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighs about 120 pounds and has brown eyes and gray hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket.
