Train Hits, Kills Eveleth Man

MOUNTAIN IRON, Minn. (AP) — A 38-year-old Eveleth man is dead after officials say he was hit by a train in northeastern Minnesota.

The Saint Louis County Sheriff's Office got a call just before 3 a.m. Sunday in Mountain Iron. Deputies say a Canadian National Railroad staff member reported a southbound train hit a person who was on the tracks.

It happened on the railroad's property near Mountain Iron Drive, near the boundary between Mountain Iron and Virginia. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is still under investigation. Authorities say the victim's name will be released once family members are notified.
