The Good Life For Less: A Season Of Free Music

I don't know about you, but to me, music just brightens the day, can help time fly by (especially in the long, winter car trips), and just gives me the boost I need. And I found a few ways to get some free tunes and entertainment this holiday season.

This first deal is music to my ears -- Amazon is giving away free song downloads every day until Christmas.

Check it out here and get yourself some free holiday music.

If you love seeing live music performances, check out the Landmark Center events page.

They have everything from free ballet performances to live musicians to choir concerts. Most of the free concerts happen at noon.

Also, colleges and universities are great places to see talented up-and-coming musicians perform.

For example, the 'U' is hosting two free concerts at Ted Mann Concert Hall this month. First is one by the University Symphony Orchestra on Dec. 13 at 7:30.

Another takes place on Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. by the Campus Orchestra and String Orchestra.

My suggestion is to call a college near you to check out any upcoming free performances.

Another great way to see a show if you don't have a lot of dough is to check if a venue needs ushers. Many places need volunteers and extra help for shows during the busy holiday season. Places like the Heart of the Beast Theater, give their ushers free admission to watch performances. Check out their page here.

There are many other theaters that offer volunteers and ushers the same perk, just call around and see if one near you is in need.

Know of any other places to snag a deal? Email them to me or post them in our comment section to share them with other 'Good Lifers!'
