The Countdown To Shutdown
The governor and lawmakers have until June 30 to figure out a budget deal or the state will run out of money. That means starting July 1, the government would be in shutdown mode.
Already more than 30,000 state employees have received layoff notices in the mail, and that's just the beginning.
Gov. Mark Dayton and Attorney General Lori Swanson have sent the court notices about what they would like considered "essential" services. Those services deemed "essential" will not be affected during a shutdown, but everything else is fair game.
We want to know how you will be affected by a possible shutdown. Are you one of the people that may be out of a job and a paycheck or is there a specific state service you can't live without? Send us an email to tips@wcco.com or feel free to leave a comment below.
