Tap In, a space in North Minneapolis, is quickly becoming a popular hotspot
In the heart of the Cleveland neighborhood in North Minneapolis, a space designed for big thinkers, dreamers and doers.
"I created Tap In because there was a need for creating community and a culture hub right here on the Lowry corridor," said owner Chris Webley. "I live in the neighborhood and I wanted a space that I could get really good food, hang out with my friends, have a drink or two, hang outside, [and] maybe see some live entertainment ."
But Tap Out is much more than a place to grab food and drinks with friends.
"The space that we've designed is a reflection of the needs of community," said Webley. "We're a community space first. People who are coming here were hoping they are here because they want to connect and build with each other. Tap In is really rooted in bringing cultivating community the shared ethos of how we look at community the fabric that creates us."
"First my vision is to really master food," said Webley. "All of the ingredients that we made all of our syrups all of our juices get made in house fresh each day."
Tap In's executive chef Dame VanDussen makes everything from scratch. From wings, to greens, brisket to miso salmon, there is something on the menu for all appetites.Nothing but love flows out of his kitchen.
Tap In was also designed from scratch, now occupying the old SA that sat vacant for 15 years.
A lot of inspiration for this place was a cave because caves were gathering places for all of our ancestors all around the world and we experience a lot of gray, cold days in Minnesota," said lead designer Sophie Weber. "I wanted to create that sense of warmth in a space that invokes connection."
Weber created a space she believes will inspire.
"Creating comfortable spaces in [a] community where we can land and feel at home."
Chris has plans to continue to grow Tap In.
"We're adding an outdoor exterior space where we are going to have a recessed fire pit, some pergola outdoor seating. We're going to enclose the patio outside so a contained conservatory glass house," said Webley.
Customers are amazed at the warm and inviting decor. Webley says what he hears from them, he takes as a compliment and hopes others come from far and wide to experience the space, and Tap In.
"When they are here, they don't feel like they are on the Northside, and I don't think that's a shot to the Northside. I think it's a kind of you wouldn't expect such an unsuspecting space."
