State Patrol: Cyclist Hit, Killed While Pulling Children In Rock County
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 33-year-old woman was hit by a truck and killed while pulling her two children on a bicycle on Monday in southwestern Minnesota, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities responded to the crash at about 11:28 a.m. on Highway 270 in Rock County. When officers arrived, a 2003 Chevy truck was heading eastbound on Highway 270 when it collided with the bicycle with two children in a passenger trailer.
The woman, identified by the State Patrol as Andrea L. Boeve, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said two children, a 4-year-old and 1-year-old girl, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the accident.
The driver of the truck, a 25-year-old man from South Dakota, was not hurt in the crash. Investigators said the driver was cooperative, stopped immediately, and helped render first aid until ambulances arrived.
The driver was arrested and taken to Nobles County Jail. According to the State Patrol, he was driving in a grossly negligent manner and was booked for criminal vehicular homicide. Charges are expected Tuesday afternoon.
What led up to the crash is under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol with assistance from the Rock County Sheriff's Office.
