St. Paul School Board To Vote On Revised Start Time Proposal

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The St. Paul School Board is expected to vote Tuesday on possible new school start times.

Right now, most elementary schools start at 8:30 a.m, and many of the high schools and middle schools start at 7:30 a.m.

A revised proposal released last week would have 26 elementary schools starting at 7:45 a.m. and 17 elementary schools starting at 9:30 a.m. Middle and high schools would start at 8:30 a.m.

However, since that draft was released, the district put out updated information on Tuesday's vote.

They said they're not voting on a specific plan, but rather to direct the district to continue working towards later start times for secondary schools.

The changes wouldn't go into effect until the 2018-2019 school year.
