Police: Child Lured Outside Maplewood School
MAPLEWOOD (WCCO) -- Maplewood Police are searching for man who tried to lure a student outside a school on Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, a 12-year-old boy was walking outside Maplewood Middle School around 2:45 p.m. when a man drove up to him.
The man told the boy that the boy's mother had asked the man to pick him up. The 12-year-old then asked the man a question that only the person picking him up would know.
Police said the man apparently panicked that the boy was "not to be fooled easily" and the man took off.
Maplewood Police were contacted immediately and searched the area near the school on Holloway Avenue but weren't able to locate the man or his vehicle.
The man is described as a while man between 45- to 50-years-old. He had a medium build and was bald. He was driving a black Pontiac, either a Gran Prix or Grand Am-style.
