Patrol: Fatal Crash Shuts Down WB I-94 In Clay County
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A crash that left two dead and one injured Monday prompted the closing of the icy westbound lanes of Interstate 94 in Barnesville, Minn., the State Patrol said.
The crash happened near mile post 22 and involved four cars -- a MnDOT snow plow, a semi, a pickup, and a passenger car.
According to the State Patrol, the car, a Buick Park Avenue, tried to pass between the semi and the snow plow, but it struck both vehicles.
After this, the pickup slammed into the Buick.
The driver of the pickup, 65-year-old Boyd Charles, of Saskatchewan, suffered minor injuries.
The names of the dead will be released on Tuesday.
Clay County, and much of western Minnesota, is under a blizzard warning.
The crash is still under investigation.
