News Website Minn. Independent Shuts Down

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The online news site Minnesota Independent is shutting down.

The closing was announced Wednesday on the MnIndy site.

David S. Bennahum, CEO and founder of The American Independent News Network, says after five years of operation in Minnesota, the network's board has decided to shift publication of its news into a single site, The American Independent.

Bennahum calls it part of a strategic move toward new forms of journalism made available by advances in technology, and an increased emphasis on national and issues-based coverage from the network.

An archive of Minnesota Independent's reports will exist on AmericanIndependent.com.
