Miracle League Dedicates Blaine Field To Killebrew

BLAINE, Minn. (WCCO) - The legacy of Twins Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew was celebrated Saturday as kids took to the field in a special ballpark.

The Miracle League of Minnesota renamed its ball field in Blaine the Harmon Killebrew Memorial Field.

The Miracle League's program provides kids with mental or physical challenges the opportunity to play baseball on a custom-designed field.

Killebrew's wife Nita and son, Cam, emphasized Harmon's wish to give every kid the chance to play baseball.

"It just really touches your heart to see them so excited about playing a game that some of us took playing for granted when we were younger when we were physically able to play and seeing them have the same joy in playing the game," Cam said. "It's just real touching."

During Killebrew's lifetime, his foundation donated more than $250,000 to Miracle League fields around the country.
