2 Minnesotans End Rowing Trip To Hawaii After Capsizing
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two Minnesotans trying to row from California to Hawaii have stopped their journey.
A helicopter picked up 44-year-old Erin Hammer and 42-year-old Ryan Foss Monday.
According to their Facebook page, their boat took on a big wave Saturday and briefly capsized before righting itself.
When that happened, Hammer broke her wrist. They decided they needed to stop their trek so Hammer could get more advanced medical attention.
They had planned to row for a month, but ended up rowing only five days.
Hammer is from Minnetonka. Foss lives in Tonka Bay.
