When do the Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs play? The schedule so far

For the third year in a row, the Minnesota Timberwolves have moved past the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Despite missing star Anthony Edwards and key contributors Donte DiVincenzo and Ayo Dosunmu, the Wolves dispatched the Denver Nuggets 110-98 in Game 6 to take the series 4-2. Jaden McDaniels was the series standout, scoring a career-high 32 points in the closer while playing the tenacious defense for which he's known.

Next up, Minnesota has a date with MVP candidate and Defensive Player of the Year Victor Wembanyama's San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs beat the Portland Trail Blazers in five games in round one.

While DiVincenzo is out for the rest of the season, Dosunmu and Edwards could both return during the Spurs series.

The full schedule hasn't yet been released, but here's what we know about when the No. 6-seed Wolves and No. 2-seed Spurs will play. Tickets for the Wolves' home games go on sale at noon on Friday.

Fans excited as Timberwolves and Wild find playoff success

Fans of the Timberwolves and the Minnesota Wild were on their feet Thursday night, soaking it all in as the final seconds ticked down. Even the players knew something special was happening.

"I looked back, I saw someone crying back there and everyone is just so happy. The building was so loud my ears started hurting," said Wild goalie Jesper Wallstedt.

The Wild defeated the Dallas Stars 5-2 on Thursday, securing their first playoff series victory in 11 years.

Wild and Wolves fans across the metro woke up Friday hyped for what's to come.

"I'm feeling great about both teams. We've got the momentum going," said Ryan Dussik of Woodbury, Minnesota.

"All the way baby! All the way!" said Joe Irish of Plainview, Minnesota.

WCCO spoke with Irish when he was walking the Stone Arch Bridge. He's one of thousands who watched the Wild crush the Stars at Grand Casino Arena in-person.

"It was so fun. Insane energy," said Irish.

Energy that won't be forgotten as they move into the second round of the NHL playoffs.

When WCCO spoke with Kelly Peterson of Spring Lake Park, Minnesota, as she was coming out of the Wild game Thursday night, she said she'd pay $1,000 to experience it all again.

"Wolves in 6! Wolves in 6!" fans chanted while leaving Target Center after the Timberwolves game Thursday night.

"Heck of a night for Minnesota," said Irish.

"The best part of Minnesota sports is the community it brings. I really wasn't much of a sports fan until I moved here," said Nicole Mendoza of Minnetonka. "And so, honestly, I don't think there was a place where you didn't hear the state of Minnesota roaring."

Game tickets for both playoff series games are on sale now.
