MINNEAPOLIS — Roads in Minnesota will continue to be slow and slick Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning.

WCCO's NEXT Weather Alert remains in place Tuesday due to the combination of blowing snow and light snow showers.

Those two factors are expected to continue in the metro until after dinner.

Remaining accumulation in Minnesota will be negligible, except in northern Minnesota where snow showers and heavier squalls will persist through Wedneday. About 1-3 inches of additional snow could fall in areas like Grand Rapids and Duluth.

Temperatures will drop Tuesday night, which will refreeze the moisture left on the roads. For that reason, WCCO is issuing a NEXT Drive Alert for the Wednesday morning commute. Ice will be a potential factor.

Road conditions will improve Wednesday afternoon and evening, even though temps will stay below freezing all day.

"Sun angle this time of year is formidable, even when through clouds," meteorologist Mike Augustyniak said.

The next potential storms to look out for are minor. Patchy light rain showers or drizzle is possible Friday and a wintry mix is possible Monday, but no accumulation is expected for the latter.

By the weekend, temperatures should be closer to average in the 40s. Some temps in the 50s are possible by the middle of next week.

Some traded boots for flip flops and water shoes at Great Wolf Lodge on Tuesday.

"I mean, I like snow, but I don't like that it snowed a lot. Then the next day, it's all mushy and melty," said Amanda King Zett from Apple Valley.

The waterpark was sold out on Tuesday. The Great Wolf Lodge says it still has single-day passes for local families available on their website for later this week.
