Minnesota Beats Michigan Tech 4-1

HOUGHTON, Mich. (AP) -- Senior forward Mike Hoeffel scored two goals for the second straight game Saturday as Minnesota beat Michigan Tech 4-1 for a sweep of its Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.

Hoeffel, who had two goals and an assists in Friday's 6-4 Golden Gophers win, scored in the first and second periods Saturday. Nate Condon and Nick Bjugstad also scored for the Gophers (7-4-1, 5-4-1).

Kent Patterson made 10 saves in each period to finish with 30.

Deron Cousens scored the only goal for Michigan Tech (3-6-2, 1-6-2) on the power play in the second period.

Kevin Genoe made 32 saves for the Huskies, who have lost six straight games after starting the year 4-0-2.
