Minn. St., Mankato Beats Alaska-Anchorage 3-1
MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota State-Mankato's defense allowed just 21 shots on goal and Stephon Williams stopped all but one to lead the Mavericks to a 3-1 win over Alaska-Anchorge on Friday.
The Mavericks (8-5-2, 5-6-0) outshot the Seawolves 40-21. Williams made six saves in each of the first two periods.
Alaska-Anchorge (3-6-4, 1-5-3) got 37 saves from Chris Kamal, including a high of 16 in the first period.
Zach Palmquist, Johnny McInnis and Brett Knowles scored for Minnesota State-Mankato. Matt Bailey netted the only goal for Alaska-Anchorge.
Three of the game's four goals were scored in the first period.
