Man Accused Of Beating Boy With Belt
ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- A West St. Paul man has been charged with malicious punishment of a child after an 11-year-old boy called police saying he had been beaten with a belt.
Dakota County Police arrested Keith Damon Ivie, 46, on Nov. 7 after they found a boy in his apartment with tears running down his face and wounds on his left leg and shoulder, according to the police report.
The wound on the boy's leg was a red welt stretching six inches in length and more than an inch wide.
Ivie told police he struck the boy with the belt because he shrugged his shoulders disrespectfully and didn't follow directions to keep quiet, according to the criminal complaint.
Ivie has previously been convicted of assault charges in 2008.
