Man Sentenced To Jail In Kellogg Park Assault, Robbery

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- A 24-year-old St. Paul man has been sentenced to 10 years and 2 months in prison in connection to assault and robbery in a downtown St. Paul park, the Ramsey County Attorney's Office announced Monday.

According to the criminal complaint, on July 13, 2010, Edgar Jordon and some other men approached two men in Kellogg Park and repeatedly hit one of the men in the head until he was face down and unconscious. The man continues to suffer from his injuries as a result of the attack.

The other victim was ordered to "give us all your stuff" by a second man who was with Jordan, the complaint said. That victim fled the scene and called police, who arrested Jordan after a foot chase near the crime scene.

"This was an unprovoked attack on people who were simply playing their guitars in a park. Our office is satisfied that the sentence reflects the gravity of this senseless crime," said County Attorney John Choi.

Jordan pled guilty to first-degree assault and simple robbery on April 18, 2011.
