MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Kevin Garnett officially announced his retirement Friday after 21 years in the NBA.

Garnett spent 13-plus years with the Minnesota Timberwolves and finishes his career as the team's leader in games played, minutes, points, rebounds, blocked shots, assists, steals, double-doubles and triple-doubles.

The Wolves drafted Garnett in 1995. In 2007, the team traded him to the Boston Celtics, where he won a championship in 2008. After a brief stint with the Brooklyn Nets, Garnett returned to the Wolves in 2015.

Garnett was named MVP following the 2003-2004 season.

Before officially announcing his retirement, Garnett posted a farewell video on Instagram.

After his homecoming, Garnett largely served as a mentor to the Wolves' young players. Some of those players honored Garnett Friday.
