IDs Released Of 2 Men Who Died In A NM Plane Crash

LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (AP) — Authorities have positively identified two people killed last weekend when a small plane crashed in a canyon about a mile south of the Los Alamos Airport.

Los Alamos County officials say the victims were 51-year-old Michael D. Fjetland of Harmony, Minn., and 52-year-old Kevin John Burrs of Corwith, Iowa.

Authorities say the plane crashed Sunday morning in Omega Canyon and the aircraft was completely destroyed.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.

The Los Alamos Monitor reports that Fjetland was a Minnesota businessman and Burrs was his longtime friend and business partner.

The newspaper says Fjetland was flying his plane and he and Burrs were headed to an airport in Chandler, Ariz.

Inclement weather on Saturday had forced them to land in Los Alamos.
