H.S. Hockey Players Help Clear Hydrants
EDINA, Minn. (WCCO) -- Firefighters in Edina can get at fire hydrants easier thanks to some hockey players.
Edina Junior Varsity and Varsity High School Hockey players traded their hockey sticks for shovels Sunday afternoon.
Many hydrants have been covered up this winter by hard packed snow and ice. Players dug out a couple of feet of snow around each one.
Many cities encourage residents to "adopt a fire hydrant" near their homes and shoveled snow away from it during the winter season.
