Father And 9-Year-Old Son Killed Steele County Head-On Collision
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A father and son are dead after their car swerved into oncoming traffic in Steele County Friday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities say Karl Erickson, 43, and his 9-year-old son Elijah were in a black Honda Civic headed southbound on Highway 218 near Blooming Prairie when the car crossed the center line and hit a silver Chrysler van.
The State Patrol says the 79-year-old driver of the van sustained serious injuries, and remains hospitalized at St. Mary's in Rochester.
According to the State Patrol's report, the father was not wearing a seat belt, though his son was.
