Duluth Man Admits To Taking Neighbor's Fence

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- A Duluth woman whose wrought-iron fence was taken by a neighbor a few blocks away is expected to get a replacement.

According to court records, 53-year-old Randy King admitted taking the antique fence in September 2009 and installing it in his yard.

He signed a diversion agreement last month on a charge of felony theft agreeing to terms of probation, including restitution of $1,500.

Court records quoted King as saying he was given permission to take fence in an adjacent lot but removed too much. But Duluth police say the victim told police a man had come by a month earlier and asked if he could buy the fence. She declined.

The Duluth News Tribune reports that an insurance company is paying for a new fence, was expected to be installed by Monday.
