At about 3:22 a.m, Wednesday, Eden Prairie Police responded to a report of a tamper with auto in progress in the 8300 block of Mitchell Road. Police spotted a suspect at the scene who was in possession of a 2004 black Chevrolet Silverado, which had been stolen from the 12500 block of Crawford Court in Eden Prairie sometime overnight.

Police arrested 18-year-old Jacob David Szok of Red Wing at the scene. Authorities said they believe he was also responsible for the theft and crash in Eden Prairie.

Police in Edina and Eden Prairie are both investigating the crash. Authorities said in both incidents, the vehicles were left unsecured with the key inside.
