Day Care Owner Charged With Trying To Hang Boy Due In Court
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The owner of an Uptown Minneapolis daycare center accused of trying to hang a 1-year-old boy is making her first court appearance Monday.
The baby survived, and 42-year-old Natalia Karia was arrested after trying to jump off a bridge.
"There were already civilians at the scene trying to hold her down," Minneapolis Assistant Police Chief Kris Arneson said. "She was fighting them, and so the officers became involved also. She put up a big struggle."
A couple picking up another child from the daycare center found the baby hanging and called police. Karia fled the scene in a minivan, hitting a pedestrian and a bicyclist before stopping on the Park Avenue bridge. The two people hit by the minivan are recovering from their injuries.
