Man critically injured in northern Minnesota crash; alcohol believed to be factor, sheriff's office says
A 28-year-old man is in the hospital after a crash involving a plow truck and a pickup truck in Fredenberg Township, Minnesota, on Friday morning.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the collision, which a caller said was head-on, around 7:50 a.m. on the 4900 block of Fish Lake Road.
The Fredenberg Township man driving the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff's office. A dog in the pickup truck had no "apparent major injuries" and was returned to a family member.
Officials have yet to disclose whether the plow truck driver was injured.
"Alcohol use is believed to be a contributing factor of the pickup driver," the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office is investigating the crash with help from the Minnesota State Patrol.
Fredenberg Township is around 17 miles northwest of Duluth.
