Cousin: Minnesota Man Killed Visiting Somalia

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A relative says a Minnesota man has been killed while visiting his native Somalia.

Mukhtar Osman says his cousin, 51-year-old Bashir Ahmed Abdi of Minneapolis, was fatally shot while riding in a car Wednesday in the African nation's capital, Mogadishu. Osman says Abdi told him he had been invited to Somalia by friends in the government, and that he was staying in the presidential house.

Osman says the married father of four was a lawyer back in Somalia. In Minneapolis, he worked as a businessman.

Osman says family members learned the news in a phone call from one of Abdi's friends in Somalia. Osman says family members are trying to find out why Abdi was killed.
