City Of Mpls. Wants 3,000 More Rain Gardens By 2015
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- If you own a home or a business in Minneapolis, the city would like you to consider adding a rain garden.
A rain garden is a shallow landscape bowl to collect rain water before it goes into the sewer system, which keeps contaminants out of the Mississippi River.
Minneapolis would like to have 3,000 of the gardens in place by 2015. So far, there are about half that many.
The city would really like properties with parking lots to have rain gardens. We visited one in Northeast Minneapolis to see how they work.
