Car Crashes Into Cow In Paynesville

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two teenage girls are recovering after their car crashed into a cow in Paynesville late Wednesday night.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Department, at 11:58 p.m. officers received a call of a crash involving a car and a cow on County Road 33 just south of County Road 16 in Zion Township.

Upon arrival, officers learned 19-year-old Jamie Marie Scherer, of Paynesville, was driving southbound on County Road 33 when she struck a cow in the roadway.

Scherer was uninjured. Her passenger, 16-year-old Miranda Kay Scherer, suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both were wearing their seatbelt.

The cow was owned by 65-year-old Stephen Ludwig Gottwald, of Paynesville.
