Board Deciding Whether To Close Another Mpls. School
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minneapolis School Board will have to make another tough decision regarding a north side school in the city.
This time, board members may have to close Cityview School located on North 4th Street.
Based on test scores and graduation rates, Cityview is one of the most underperforming schools in the city.
Superintendent Bernadeia Johnson has proposed closing the school over the next three years. Next fall, she wants to open a Charter School for kindergarten through fifth graders at the Cityview.
One board member, Diana Hofstede, wrote a letter in support of the school. The letter said Cityview represents a new beginning and is a vital part of north Minneapolis.
