Best Margaritas In Minnesota

Margaritas come in all shapes and sizes; some are frozen, some arrive in giant chalices and some are poured with just enough tequila to make your head spin. Here you'll find a list of five Minnesota bars and restaurants that offer extensive tequila selections, provide the cheapest margarita options and throw the best Cinco de Mayo parties this side of the Mississippi. Drink up everyone.

Rojo's Jalapeño Strawberry Margarita is one of its best sellers. The concoction has the sweetness of a traditional strawberry margarita with the bite of fresh jalapeños. Since Rojo opened in 2010, it has ranked in the top ten in the nation for selling Sauza Tequila, so you know it's good. For this year's Cinco de Mayo, Rojo is hosting a block party at the West End. There will be a local food truck, games, music and specials on food and drinks all day long.

Pancho Villa, with its south-of-the-border style decor and tequila soaked interior, is notorious for its daily beer and margarita deals. The Big Nicollet margarita is based on the adjoining street to the restaurant. With a price tag of just about $16, it is definitely a party in a cup. Pancho Villa maintains this local feel with drinks such as the 26th Street Margarita, made with Hornitos Repsado, Amareto, Gran Gala, sour mix and orange juice and the Minneapolis Margarita, made with Patron Silver, orange juice, lemon/lime soda and a bit of grenadine. All day Monday through Friday, you can get two-for-ones on house margaritas and beer. It is certainly the place to go with a limited budget and thirst for tequila. Also check out the karaoke on weekends, awesome birthday specials and roulette wheel to spin fo free drinks or food.

Barrio specializes in tequila. In fact, it has over 100 tequila varieties to offer. This bar features six Barrio margaritas, two of which are the Cobra Verde and The Trinity, magnificently poured to come out aesthetically pleasing to each table. The Cobra Verde features Absinthe for those bold enough to try it, and the Trinity Marg is made with - you guessed it - three different tequilas. Barrio will celebrate Cinco de Mayo in style and will be offering drink specials, including house margarita for the clever price of $5.50, Mexican beers by the tubful and live music at all locations. Come early and come thirsty.

Off Interstate 94 in Rogers, sits one of two family-owned Guadalajara restaurants. It offers a great buffet for the lunch crowd and margarita and beer bucket deals throughout the day. The Pineapple Margarita is a must-try specialty drink for those with a sweet teeth. It's a refreshing change from the traditional lime margarita, packed to the brim with a thick serving of pulpy goodness.

The Lone Spur Grill and Bar is a little-known gem in Minnetonka, off Cedar Lake Road and Hopkins Crossroad. Lone Spur has a well-rounded menu, great lunch specials each weekday starting at $4.99 and most importantly, delicious frozen margaritas. If you're looking for a pick me up try the eye-opening Bull A Rita, made with Red Bull, tequila and triple sec. Drink these with caution; this is one margarita not intended for ending the night as it will keep you going for hours. Instead, stop in during happy hour when margaritas are just $3.75.
