Best Cheesy Dishes In Minnesota

Cheese might be one of the best foods ever invented. It comes in many forms: chunks, shreds, cakes, crumbles, wedges and curds. Here is a round-up of some of the best cheesy dishes in Minnesota.

The Nook

492 Hamline Ave. S.
St. Paul, MN 55116
(651) 698-4347

Grab your bowling buddies or the kids and head on over to The Nook in St. Paul. The menu is packed with your typical bar grub: burgers, fries, beer and the like. Instead of filling up on burgers, fill up on cheese curds ($7.50). They are salty, gooey bites of goodness served in a basket for your enjoyment. Even the cheeseheads in Wisconsin would praise these. One bite into your mountain of curds and you'll have flashbacks to the time you finished a family-sized helping of the little cheesy devils at the State Fair years back.

McCoy's Public House
3801 Grand Way
St. Louis Park, MN 55416
(952) 224-9494

Nestled in St. Louis Park at Excelsior and Grand, you'll find McCoy's Public House. This eatery has been serving the area for years and it has quite the menu. But one dish, topped with shaved cheese, shines bright. The mushroom ravioli ($14) from the everyday entree menu features wild mushrooms and swiss chard, and is topped with shaved pecorino-romano cheese and bathed in brandy-shallot cream. At first glance, it seems this pasta dish might be too big and that you'll need a doggie bag, but after your first bite, you'll know there's no need.

Lola's Lakehouse
318 E. Lake St.
Waconia, MN 55387
(952) 442-4954

Lola's Lakehouse is perched at the edge of the water on Lake Waconia and features a beautiful waterfront deck. It's a perfect spot for a date night to watch the boats and the sunset and to enjoy a delicious meal. The best part of the night comes after the meal when you can share a slice of Lola's Bailey's cheesecake ($9/slice). It's homemade with fresh ingredients and Bailey's is swirled into every piece. Paired with some wine or a cup of coffee, this cheesecake is to die for.

Butcher & The Boar
1121 Hennepin Ave.
Minneapolis, MN 55403
(612) 238-8888

Since opening its doors not that long ago, this (relatively) new Minneapolis hot spot is the place to eat out downtown. Jack Riebel's Butcher & The Boar has quite the following and the waiting list to prove it. Once you're in the door with something cheesy on the mind, look no further than the lobster grilled cheese sandwich ($18). The thick Texas toast is piled high with creamy lobster and cheese and makes for quite a tasty and satisfying meal. It certainly is a fresh take on the traditional grilled cheese sandwich that will make your taste buds and tummy happy.

St. Paul, MN 55104
(651) 493-1865

The Blue Door Pub in St. Paul is home of the Juicy Blucy -- a handcrafted cheeseburger with a center oozing with melted cheese. With 10 Blucys to choose from, you surely can't go wrong. There's the Bangkok Blucy ($7) if you're feeling like something spicy and Asian inspired, the Mushroom & Swiss Blucy ($6.50) which is piled high with mushrooms and filled with Swiss cheese or the restaurant's homage to the neighborhood; The Merriam Park ($7.50) which is packed with blue cheese, garlic and bacon.
