Apple Valley Man Convicted Of Stabbing His Mother
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 23-year-old Apple Valley man was convicted Thursday of stabbing his mother several times with a steak knife last summer.
The Dakota County Attorney's Office says Tyler Christensen was convicted of one count each of first- and second-degree assault. He was acquitted of first-degree attempted murder.
Christensen admitted to stabbing his mother in the neck multiple times on June 1, 2015 during an argument. One of his mother's blood vessels was severed during the attack, causing internal bleeding.
His mother told police the last thing she remembered before waking up in the hospital was her or her son grabbing a frying pan during the argument. She also told police he is mentally ill.
Christensen will remain in custody until his sentencing on May 25.
