President Trump said that he has agreed to convert plans for a massive triumphal arch into a "top grade Military Complex," equipped with snipers and drone storage.
The federal government plans to start excavation over the next two weeks on a massive triumphal arch near Washington, D.C., Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum said, a controversial project championed by President Trump.
President Trump's construction projects include restoring the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, building a 90,000-square-foot White House ballroom and a 250-foot triumphal arch.
Plans submitted by the Interior Department show the triumphal arch would be 250 feet tall, the tallest triumphal arch in the world.
The president says the arch will commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary.
The proposed site is situated along a flight path for nearby Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia.
President Trump waved a model of an arch that he wants to have built at the ceremonial entrance to Washington, D.C., by the nation's 250th anniversary next year.
