Suspect turns himself in for shooting West Palm Beach police officer during altercation call, officials say
The man wanted in connection with shooting a West Palm Beach police officer Tuesday turned himself in to authorities following a manhunt, officials confirmed.
According to the West Palm Beach Police Department, at about 2 a.m., Oct. 7, officers were called to a reported fight in the 300 block of Baker Drive. When officers arrived, shots were fired at them, and they immediately returned fire.
One officer was struck during the exchange and was transported to the hospital. He has since been released, police said.
Police identified the shooter as 22-year-old Emmanuel McRae, calling him armed and dangerous, and began a citywide search.
At about 11 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said McRae turned himself into the West Palm Beach Police Department.
The investigation is ongoing.
