West Miami-Dade Fire Claims Woman's Life

WEST MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A West Miami-Dade woman has died after she was pulled from a burning home early Monday morning.

Firefighters said when they arrived at the home at SW 87th Avenue and SW 21st Terrace around 1:00 a.m. it was fully engulfed in flames with smoke billowing from the windows.

"Crews commenced with a fire attack and a search. During the search phase they did find a victim who was pulled from the structure and transported to a local hospital," said Ray Jadallah with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The woman, whose name has not been released, died at Baptist Hospital. Her family and friends said she was from Cuba and had lived in the home for more than 20 years.

The woman, who has two adult daughters, was alone in the house alone when the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
