Sports Agenda For Monday (5/9/11)

Big Story:
I was searching for the big story yesterday and then watched the Lakers game. It's pretty simple now, the Lakers run is over. Stick a fork in them. They're not coming back next year.
Seriously, I've never seen a bigger bunch of sore losers and thugs playing a game. Andrew Bynum should be thrown off the team for his actions. I don't care how tall he is or how much potential he has, the Lakers are a proud organization. Can you really see Kareem doing that to someone? He's a thug and should be traded or flat out released.
And don't forget Mr. Khloe Kardashian. His sore loser hack job wasn't as bad, but it's easy to see that Lamar Odom is more focused on being a reality TV star than playing basketball.
So here's what Lakers fans should be ready for…complete rebuilding. They will likely keep Pau and rebuild around him and Kobe. They need a point guard, a small forward, and a center. Unlike the Heat, they can and will build through the draft. But they will be big players for free agents, assuming there's a big market under a new CBA.
They've got their coach, Brian Shaw; and they have their superstar, Kobe. Now they have to rebuild.
Oh yeah, the Heat got smacked in the face and the Marlins dropped a series to the Nationals (Yikes.). Let's hit the agenda.

Heat: (@ Boston Celtics; 7pm; TNT)
The Heat had quite an ugly Game 3 in Boston. It shouldn't surprise anyone that the Celtics won. They had a week off after getting run out of the building in Miami. With that much time off, the older Celtics could rest. But, they now face having to play every other day, we'll see how they hold up.
D-Wade has been called dirty after the play that dislocated Rajon Rondo's elbow. Was it dirty? No, it was a physical play and both were trying to pull each other down. Rondo slipped and snapped his elbow. Would my opinion be different if it had gone the other way, I hope not.
Now, as for Chris Bosh's comments saying the situation got to him. People like Joe Rose are slamming him for being soft/weak. Really, what the hell does Joe Rose know about basketball. Stick to football, something you actually know about. How many times as reporters do we complain about athletes not saying anything after a game. Then, Bosh is honest and reveals something about himself and everyone wants to jump down his throat?
Now, as for Game 4….I expect the Heat to be more aggressive tonight. I think LeBron and Wade are going to push the tempo a bit and also going to drive to the basket more, regardless of whether they get the calls.
I still don't see the Celtics winning the series, but it will be a tough out for the Heat. But, that which doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, to paraphrase Nietzsche.

Marlins: (vs. Phillies, 7:10 p.m. Fox Sports Florida)
The Marlins played solid Sunday with Anibal Sanchez flirting with a no hitter. Gaby Sanchez also made Mama proud with a homer off a pink bat. The win kept the Fish with 2 games of the division leading Phillies, who happen to come to Sun Life Stadium for a series starting tonight.
The Marlins toss up Javier Vazquez tonight, so the bullpen should be ready to come in early and often. Must say something about the Marlins minor league pitching prospects that they keep throwing Vazquez out there, because he has a dead arm and opponents know it.
I'm still not seeing anything from Hanley Ramirez, who is still batting south of the Mendoza Line (.200). He's got to get that average up if the Marlins are going to contend long-term. I am encouraged by Gaby Sanchez and a few others who are holding their own while Ramirez tries to get out of his season-beginning slump.
I'm interested to see how the Marlins play starting Tuesday night when the Phillies toss Roy Halladay against Josh Johnson. Remember, Halladay last year pitched a perfect game against the Fish. But, I want to see how Johnson pitches after getting shelled last game.

NFL Update:
Don't look now, but there are rumors starting to fly of a COMPLETE NFL shutdown. According to profootballtalk, the NFL would cease all operations so as to not violate a court order if they are ordered to reopen for business. It's looking for like a reality, especially if the 8th Circuit rules for the players. Essentially, anything the NFL does at that point regarding rules would be open to anti-trust claims. So no salary cap, no salary floor, no drug testing, no nothing could be enforced unless a new CBA was immediately reached.
Personally, I think the ownership and the players are acting like scumbags. They have a 9 billion dollar business and they can't agree on how to split up the money. I tell you what guys…how about take that 9 billion a year and give it to workers making less than $50,000 a year in the town you play in. Or better yet, how about working in a job where you make less than $50 k and then talk to us about having money problems.
Trust me, having to scrimp by because of bills and so forth is a lot tougher when you're working in businesses that don't value you, like journalism.
