Miami Beauty Supply Thief Caught On Camera

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A serial thief who appears to be obsessed with electronic hair clippers was caught in the act on camera.

Now Miami police are releasing the video in hopes that someone recognizes him and gives them or Crime Stoppers a call.

The man in the video hit the same Sally Beauty Supply Store in midtown Miami twice in August. The first time was on August 18th, the second time four days later.

In the video, the man walks up to the shelf where the clippers are on display and then grabs several, throwing them into a plastic bag. He then walked out of the store without paying for them.

"At this time it is unknown why he is stealing these clippers," said police officer Kiara Delva.

Both times, the man hit the store in the middle of the afternoon.

Police suspect the same man has done this before at the store, but since there was no video surveillance system in place at that time, they don't know for sure.

"Apparently he has done this numerous times before but there were no cameras or surveillance and he was not captured in the past," said Delva.

Police say catching this man is a priority.

"Our detectives are working around the clock to identify this subject. One thing we do want store employees to know, if you observe the subject walk into your store, or any subject at all and you catch them stealing, please do not come in close proximity to the subject because at the end of the day you do not know if they are armed or if they are willing to harm you. We do advise that you get a detailed description of the subject and immediately contact the police," said Delva.
