Ft. Lauderdale Cop Accused Of "Delivering Drugs" Out Of Jail

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Ft. Lauderdale police officer accused of trying to peddle prescription drugs is out of jail on paid leave.

Officer Kevin Gerard Pisano bonded out of Broward County's main jail overnight. According to the arrest affidavit, Pisano, 52, was arrested Friday at approximately 11:20 p.m. at 250 North Andrews Avenue.

Pisano "made contact with a Fort Lauderdale Police Department informant and delivered four 5 mg of Percocet pills and one 5mg of Vicodin," the affidavit stated. During the transaction, Pisano was dressed in his police uniform with his gun belt and a loaded gun. Pisano was also sitting in a marked police vehicle. He was off duty at the time.

Police soon after arrested him and searched his vehicle where they found one Vicodin.

According to police, on Wednesday, Nov. 30 the informant told police that Pisano wanted to give him the prescription pain pills. That's when detectives opened the undercover investigation into the allegation.

On Friday, police monitored Pisano and the informant and discovered the delivery of the pills from Pisano to the informant, according to police.

Police said that no money was exchanged in the delivery of the pills.

His charges include delivery of Oxycodone, delivery of Hydrocodone and possession of Hydrocodone.

Detectives are investigating as to how Pisano came into possession of the drugs and why he gave the pills to the informant.

Pisano was hired by the City of Fort Lauderdale in August of 2009 and was assigned to the Patrol Division. Prior to being hired by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Pisano was a law enforcement officer in the State of New Jersey.
