Deadly motorcycle crash shuts down the Palmetto Expressway near Miami Lakes early Tuesday
A man was killed in a motorcycle crash early Tuesday morning on the Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade County.
Officials say a preliminary investigation shows a man on a motorcycle lost control and fell onto the highway, then was struck by a tractor trailer. The crash happened at around 5:40 a.m.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
As the Florida Highway Patrol began investigating, traffic delays mounted at the big curve near Miami Lakes.
Soon after, the expressway was shut down at Ludlam Road, 67th Avenue, creating a commuting nightmare that lasted most of the morning.
